Appreciation is such an important part of living consciously. As we stand in appreciation for where we are, where we've been and where we are going, more good things flow to us. A friend called me this week about deliberately creating a new experience. We talked about how important it is to appreciate what you have now. As we appreciate the things we have, the people we love and the experience we are living, we open ourselves up to greater possibilities.
When we are in a state of non-appreciation, we limit the amount of energy available to create new things. For example, if I am focused on things I want and don't have in my life currently, I am creating a resistance to have what I want. If however I refocus and appreciate what I have and stand in the knowing that more good things are coming, I unleash the powerful vibration of love, allowing more to come.
Doesn't it feel better to notice the beautiful things around you? Doesn't it feel better to focus on the things in your life that bring you joy? No matter the circumstances, it always feels better to focus on the "loving" aspect of things or people. That doesn't mean that you will accept abuse. It doesn't mean you will tolerate things that are not in alignment with who you are or what you want. It means that you can lovingly detach from those things or people, without judgement or justification.
As you stand in a place of deliberate focus and appreciation, you allow yourself to constantly surround yourself with loving people and things. It's kind of like driving in your car on your way to a destination of your choosing. Along your journey you may see things that you find irritating, distracting or unattractive. Do you allow those things to detour you or stop you from continuing to your destination? Of course not! It wouldn't make sense to pull your car over and stare endlessly at the scenery you find so unattractive. You wouldn't get so irritated by traffic on the way to your destination and just turn around and go back would you? Knowing the fun awaiting you at your destination, you wouldn't invite someone who is abusive or negative to make the trip with you. You would certainly plan your trip, leave behind anything that you don't need at home and venture off happily. In that state of happiness, no matter what you experience on the journey you appreciate all as part of that experience. You focus on where you are going, the wonderful feelings of anticipation and appreciation.
Life is a perfect unfolding of all you focus on. Choosing to focus on the things you appreciate is a loving way to walk through life. Appreciation energizes and inspires our spirits.
